Ed Pias Guitarist Joseph Mancilla has released his debut cd, a compendium of classical guitar pieces ranging from Renaissance Spanish melodies to the masters who developed modern guitar technique in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, to a composition by Joseph Mancilla himself. Las Cruces listeners have heard Joseph perform with many musicians and ensembles over the years, and can do so again this coming weekend. He stopped by the KRWG studios to talk about his upcoming cd release concerts (June 1 and June 3 at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum), and his life as a performer, composer and teacher.

Musical selections played during the interview:

  1. "Variations on a Spanish Folk Song" (Guardame las vacas), by Luis de Narvaez;
  2. "Capraicho Arabe," by Francesco Tarrega;
  3. "Estrellita," by Joseph Mancilla
  4. Excerpt from "Una limosna por el Amor de Dios," by Agustin Barrios.

Interview with Leora Zeitlin broadcast live and recorded on May 24, 2007 in the studios of KRWG-FM 90.7 Las Cruces.
