Pianist
Alan Chow visited KRWG-FM’s studios on Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, before performing with the
Las Cruces Symphony over the weekend. He talks with Intermezzo host Leora Zeitlin about the music below, the life of
Robert Schumann, and the pressures of piano competitions. LCSO conductor
Lonnie Klein joins them in the discussion.
Musical selections:
- “Gazebo Dances,” by John Corigliano, movements 1 and 4, performed by Alan Chow and his twin brother, Alvin Chow;
- Sonata in C major, 1st movement (K545), by Mozart, with a second piano part by Edvard Grieg. Performed by Alan Chow and his sister-in-law, Angela Cheng.
- “West Side Story,” by Leonard Bernstein, in an arrangement for six hands, performed by twin brothers Alan and Alvin Chow, and Angela Cheng.
